# SUPERWISE® Sentinel: product sheet

> SUPERWISE Sentinel is an AI gateway. Sentinel replaces email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, IBANs, IP and MAC addresses, and API keys, cloud credentials, and tokens in known formats. Bank account numbers, driver's licenses, tax IDs and EINs, national IDs, VINs, dates of birth, and medical record numbers are replaced when a label sits next to them, such as "Account number:" or "MRN:". It does not catch names, street addresses, passport numbers, bank routing numbers, unlabeled numbers, or values under a column header in a pasted table. Each value it catches becomes {{REDACTED}}. An admin can change the replacement text, or block the request instead. For each request Sentinel records metadata only: counts, which rule fired, and latency. Prompts and responses are never sent to SUPERWISE.

## What it does

- Reads every prompt, pasted document, and code snippet on its way to a supported AI tool, on the person's own computer or in the customer's own cloud.
- Each value it catches becomes {{REDACTED}}. An admin can change the replacement text, or block the request instead.
- Sentinel replaces email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, IBANs, IP and MAC addresses, and API keys, cloud credentials, and tokens in known formats. Bank account numbers, driver's licenses, tax IDs and EINs, national IDs, VINs, dates of birth, and medical record numbers are replaced when a label sits next to them, such as "Account number:" or "MRN:". - Blocks a request the policy does not allow, such as one asking the model to insult a customer.
- For each request Sentinel records metadata only: counts, which rule fired, and latency. Prompts and responses are never sent to SUPERWISE.
- Forwards the cleaned request to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint added as a custom provider.
- Guardrails check the prompt on its way out. The model's response comes back unchanged.

## What it does not do

- It does not catch names, street addresses, unlabeled numbers, passwords, or keys in no known format. Patient work belongs on a covered plan or on a hosted model.
- It does not make an AI tool HIPAA compliant, and it is not a certification.
- It acts only on the tools and data categories this sheet lists. Where a tool is marked Preview or Coming soon, treat it as such.
- It is a gateway. It is not the SUPERWISE platform, which is the governance layer underneath it. It is not related to SentinelOne, Microsoft Sentinel, or any other product called Sentinel.

## What it replaces

- A workplace AI ban. A ban does not stop AI. It hides it. Sentinel keeps the tool and protects the customer.
- Manual redaction before pasting into an AI tool.
- It does not replace security suites with AI DLP (Microsoft Purview, Netskope, Zscaler) for companies that already run them, or developer LLM gateways (LiteLLM, Portkey, Cloudflare AI Gateway, Kong) that route an application's model calls. Sentinel also covers the AI tools people use directly, such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Claude Code, with no application code to change. ## Where it runs

- Windows app: for Windows 10 and 11. The per-user installer installs for one user and needs no admin rights. The all-users installer for shared or managed PCs, deployed through Intune or another tool, is coming soon and is not available to download yet; [contact us](https://superwise.ai/contact/?topic=windows-all-users). - CLI: for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Install with `pip install superwise-sentinel-cli`, then run `sentinel quickstart`. It needs Python 3.11 or later; Docker Desktop is needed only to run a gateway on the machine itself.
- Mac: the CLI works today. A native Mac app with the same protection as Sentinel for Windows is coming soon, with no date. See [Sentinel for Mac](https://superwise.ai/sentinel/mac/) for the CLI path and the app waitlist.
- Team gateway: one gateway for a team's or an application's traffic, in the customer's own cloud on AWS, GCP, or Azure, or on Docker. Steps are in [Deploy a gateway](https://docs.superwise.ai/docs/deploy-a-gateway).
- Sentinel runs on the machine or in the customer's own cloud, and nothing is routed through SUPERWISE. Raw prompts and responses stay in the customer's environment. Only operational metadata reaches the SUPERWISE control plane. The boundary is documented in [Data privacy](https://docs.superwise.ai/docs/data-privacy).

- Every Sentinel self-service tier starts with 30 days free, no credit card, and no sales call.
- Every tier includes the full Sentinel product: Protection, Insight, and Optimization. Tiers differ by the right to operate (development or production use) and by the number of Sentinels, never by features.
- A Sentinel is one protected computer, with the Windows app or the CLI, or one gateway. Each appears in the SUPERWISE account.
- Developer use can stay on Solo or Pro, even inside a company. Business applies when Sentinel protects production or business workflows.
- Eight developers on their own PCs need two Pro plans, $50 a month. A 20-person office using AI with client data needs four Business plans, $200 a month. Both start with 30 days free.

## Limits stated on the site and in the docs

- Sentinel acts on supported tools and the data categories listed above.
- The CLI needs Python 3.11 or later. Docker Desktop is needed only to run a gateway on the machine itself.
